Mr. Curtis is one of the three founders of Gossamer Space Frames, and remains the Senior Engineer for all Gossamer technologies, designs and products. Mr. Curtis has performed engineering analyses on solar field components such as frames, center drives, heat collector elements and reflective panels. In addition to engineering Gossamer's solar field components, Mr. Curtis has also performed engineering and analyses on Gossamer's technologies, designs and products developed for structural, architectural and scientific applications.

Mr. Curtis has worked in the field of structural engineering since 1960, during which time he has worked for engineering and consulting firms as both an engineer and a general manager. Mr. Curtis has also maintained his private engineering practice, where he has performed engineering and design services, including forensic engineering services, for numerous clients. Mr. Curtis has also performed forensic engineering as an expert witness regarding structural failures of bridges and tall guyed towers.

Mr. Curtis holds his Civil and Structural Professional Engineering Licenses in six states: California , Washington , Oregon , Nevada , Hawaii and Illinois . Mr. Curtis is a Fellow in the American Society of Civil Engineers, and remains active in numerous professional engineering organizations.
